Excellent, the best we've seen.. It's stronger than the plastic models and is exactly what we needed.. Highly recommend it, now the pups go in and out as they wish.. It took less than two minutes for them to learn how.. It's well built, very precise, & easy to install.. I recently installed two of these pet doors. What I really like about these pet doors is that the inside of the frame through the door completely conceals the door edges, unlike the old worn out and discontinued Johnson doors that I replaced. These pet doors have a nice clean finished look. I also like that the door flap is clear so that our dog can see through the door before going through. The flaps seals out drafts fairly well despite the fact that it's only a single flap. They do make some loud clicking noises as a magnetic strip seals the bottom of the flap when it closes, but I prefer hearing when our dog goes in and out of the pet door...so that's a plus for me. Installation was simple and includes a template to mark the rectangular opening and screw holes. I found it easier to just cut the opening using the template, insert the frame flush with the door, then drill using the screw holes as a guide vs. using the template to mark the holes. I just drilled through the frame's screw holes into the door a little more than half way through from each side while doing my best to make sure I was drilling straight and level (my Ryobi drill has a built-in level). I never ran into a problem doing it this way. The plastic slide used to block the door goes in easily and locks in place. Finally, Home Depot had really good pricing on the doors and I ordered online and picked up at the store.

However, the design of the attachment method was difficult due to the screws/nut shafts(6 of them) was very hard to line up inside the door since you can not see the screw going into the nut shaft. YOU must stab/jiggle/try several time to line the two items. Then you get lucky.

I have 5 dogs. The largest is an 80lb Husky/lab mix and the smallest is a chihuahua mix. All navigate the extra large metal frame doggy door without issue. Well constructed. It replaced an older model plastic frame door.

I bought this pet door because it was very similar to the one that was installed in our old "people door". I had searched everywhere via Internet, telephone, and shopping locally to find one. My major requirement was that the frame be metal, rather than plastic, the only styles that were available to me locally. Those that met my needs were very expensive - 0 to 0, depending on feature functions - and I was beginning to give up hope when I decided to check the Home Depot's web site. There I found it in exactly the size, design, construction and price that I had been seeking.

I purchased this over a month ago to replace what I thought was the same one. (old one was in the house when i bought it. No brand name on it) It was a little bit of a different size, but looked identical. So i had to cut a bit more off the vertical length of of the door to allow this new dog door to fit. Replaced an existing pet door that had failed over time. Had to add some framing material before installation. This door works very well. The only suggestion is to add screws along the top frame. This helps because the flap is attached to the top frame and stresses this frame. Adding the screws helps keep it rigid.

It replaced an old dog door but installation was easy. The old hole was a little bigger than needed but I just used 4 shims like you would installing a regular door. The door fits perfectly square and secure to the door. I have 2 large labs that use it a lot so it's worth not having to open the door for them when they have to go out. I would highly recommend this product!

I was replacing an old dog door (20 yrs old or so) of the same brand and size. The new white one looks nicer than the plain gray metal. I was disappointed that the holes had to be re-drilled as they did not match up with the old ones. Other than that it works well and seems to seal well. I only gave it a good on quality only because the flap works differently than the old one and I'm not sure how well it will hold up.

The installation and efficiency of the door is good. It looks as good as a dog door can look. The magnet that holds the flap could be a little stronger as it will move if the wind is even slight. It's a little bigger than I had hoped but the next size down was just too small for our 85 lb. Shepherd. But he's happy and that's all that really matters.
Works very well and the dogs adapted to it quickly.

All dog doors are a little pricey but hopefully will last for quite awhile. I have three dogs and they had to learn that they could not all three exit at the same time but they have adapted well. The only complaint is that the plastic flap gets milky quickly with the weather and the dogs rubbing against it as they enter and exit. You have to clean it often. Otherwise, works great.

This "extra large" pet door was purchased to replace a "medium" that was a bit too small. They do not make a "large" size for thin storm door application. My dog had to squeeze through the medium size - I can crawl through the extra large - so could a burgler. I wish they made a large. Installation is straight forward. The bolts are too long if you have a thin door - less than about 1.5" thick. Buy shorter bolts.
