Soft rose gold gold patina graces the clean, frosty surfaces of this near-gem example. A very scarce date to find with relevant clashing. Though the Cherrypicker's Guide has not added this date, the bar-like clash coming down from Franklin's nose still earned it an "Obv Die Clash" designation at PCGS. This is FVI Bugs Bunny D-1 in the new Franklin Variety Index. Quite a bit cleaner than the MS63FBL we are also offering, which is from the same dies. This one also exhibits a hard-to-get CAC sticker!
The Franklin Variety Index, a free variety guide to Franklin half dollars, is the result of a 10-year research initiative by DM Rare Coins. The guide is being released in stages, beginning in December of 2020. Coins attributed to the FVI will be accompanied by a certificate of attribution.
