  • Condition: Very good condition, with no chips or cracks. There is very fine (light or faint) crazing visible on the clematis design, and the crazing is a bit more visible on the white foot.

    A very pretty ashtray from Moorcroft (England), in a design called "Clematis." The centerpiece is a lovely slip-decorated dark red and blue clematis flower with light yellow center and green-yellow leaves around the edges, on a dark green body. It measures 6-1/8 inches long and 3.5 inches wide.
    The ashtray is in very good condition, with no chips or cracks. There are very faint craze lines on the flower petals (barely visible, see closeup photos). The crazing is slightly more visible on the white foot.
    The foot has several marks. There is an embossed bluish-green mark for "MOORCROFT" and "Made in England." There is also a hand-incised mark for "A" and "H". It probably would have had a paper label as well, but that is long gone. I believe this piece would likely dates to the 1930s.
